Tennessee State’s Terrell Allen named Big South-OVC Defensive Player of the Year

For his exploits on the gridiron this season, Tennessee State defensive lineman was named Big South-OVC Defensive Player of the Year.

Allen led FCS in sacks with 14.5 (1.32 per game) and 28.0 tackles for loss (2.5 per game). The senior also ranked second in FCS in forced fumbles with 5 ( 0.45 per game). He had a four game stretch in which he recorded 11.5 sacks, including a season-high 4.5 against Lindenwood, 18.5 tackles for loss and also garnered at least co Defensive Player of the Week three times in that span.

The Austin Peay transfer also recorded 65 tackles ( 44 solo) and lead the Tigers with 5 forced fumbles and was one of the prime drivers of a Tennessee State defense that was the second-ranked total defense in the Big South-OVC, allowing 333.82 yards per and ranked third, allowing 24.7 points per contest.
