Tuesday morning Tennessee State University lady basketballer Saniah Parker was announced as Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the week.
In helping the Lady Tigers go 2-0 last week, Parker scored 14 against UT Martin and followed that up with a season, and career-high 18 points against Southeast Missouri. Parker was scorching from the floor in those games, hitting 12-16 from the floor including knocking down 75% of her three point attempts and 83% of her free throws.
On the season Parker is averaging 8.7 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 1.9 assists per contest. However she has started seven of the Lady Tigers last 8 ballgames and over that span increased her scoring production, averaging 11.1 points , 2.14 steals and 1.7 assists while shooting 56% from the floor.
The Lady Tigers return to action on Thursday when they will head to Murray, KY to take on the Racers before returning home to the friendly confines of the Gentry Center on Saturday to host Morehead State.
