Virginia Union University’s Robert Osbornetied his season-high by scoring 33 points as VUU cruised to an 86-60 win over Bowie State University on Saturday, January 21, at Bowie, Md.

Osborne also scored 33 points against Livingstone College earlier in the season.

VUU’s Raemaad Wright recorded a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds while teammate Tahj Harding added 13 points in the win for the Panthers.

Virginia Union sophomore Troy Joseph had a career-high of 11 rebounds in the win.

It was Virginia Union’s fifth straight win and raised VUU’s record to 16-4 overall and 6-2 in CIAA play.

The win also kept VUU in sole possession of first place in the Northern Division of the CIAA with a 3-0 record.

“This was a really good road win today,” said VUU Head Men’s Basketball Coach Jay Butler.  “I thought the guys came out and defended at a high level against a solid Bowie State team.  I thought Raemaad and Robbie came out set the tone on both the offense and defensive side of the ball.  They both scored and rebounded the ball well today.”

Virginia Union will now travel to Elizabeth City, N.C., to face Elizabeth City State University at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 26.
