Miles 21, University of West Alabama 37
LIVINGSTON, Ala. – A week after accumulating just 115 yards of total offense, Miles spent the first half against West Alabama moving the ball up and down the field with relative ease.
But a small halftime deficit mushroomed after two quick scores to open the third quarter as the No. 11 Tigers (2-0) pulled away from the Golden Bears (0-2) with a 37-21 win at Tiger Stadium Thursday night. Daniel Smith threw for 278 yards and two touchdowns, both to Leonard Tyree, who had eight catches for 125 yards and two touchdowns – all career highs.

Tuskegee 20, Albany State 0
Phenix City, AL – The Tuskegee University Golden Tigers evened their record to 1-1 after defeating the Albany State University Golden Rams 20-0 in the 5th annual White Water Classic. The Rams offense was unable to crack the Tigers’ defense and looked anemic for the second consecutive game.
Central State 7, Clark Atlanta 0
Wilberforce, OH – It was a rainy, muddy battle reminiscent of games from yesteryear. Central State persevered and was able to out battle Clark-Atlanta 7-0.
McKendree University 34, Kentucky State 17
Frankfort, KY – A career day for McKendree University quarterback Reese Metcalf powered the Bearcats to a 34-17 victory over Kentucky State. Missed opportunities in the scoring zone would cut down the KSU attempts to get back in the ball game.
Benedict 42, Johnson C. Smith University 14
Charlotte, NC– Benedict scored 21 points within the first nine minutes of the first quarter en route to a 42-14 blowout of Johnson C. Smith.
The point total (42) and offensive yards (480) were high water marks in the 4 years that Mike White has been the head man at Benedict.
Valdosta State University 55, Fort Valley State 6
Waycross, GA – In three of their first four possessions, which was a combined 5:13, the Valdosta State Blazers effectively ended the competitive portion of the Okefenokee Classic. They scored 21 points in those three possessions and were never seriously threatened in the course administering a 55-6 beat down of FVSU.
