Week 3 SIAC Men’s and Women’s Basketball Honorees

Week 3: Basketball Players Of The Week

ATLANTA, Ga. (November 30, 2021) – The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) has announced its men’s and women’s basketball Players of the Week.
 
For women, Tyashia Bostick (Spring Hill) was named Player of the Week, while Golden Madison (Benedict) earned Newcomer of the Week.
 
For men, Malachi McCoy (Benedict) was named Player of the Week, while Lavar Miller (Central State) earned Newcomer of the Week, released by the league office on Tuesday.
 
Women’s Basketball
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Tyashia Bostick, Spring Hill
Guard  |  Senior  |  Charleston, S.C.

Bostick went for a team season-high 28 points in a Badger win at Allen on Saturday. She was 10-of-20 from the field and 6-of-10 from 3-point range with two free throws. She also pulled down 8 rebounds, averaging 5.5 rebounds per game this season.
 

NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK– Golden Madison, Benedict
Guard  |  Junior  |  Irmo, S.C.

Golden helped spark Benedict off the bench with 8 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and a steal in Benedict’s 74-54 victory over 22nd-ranked Tuskegee. For the week, the transfer from Newberry shot a 4-11 (36.4%) from the field.

Men’s Basketball
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Malachi McCoy, Benedict
Forward  |  Junior   |  Berry Islands, Fla.

McCoy helped Benedict defeat Tuskegee 73-62 by scoring 17 points and grabbing 12 rebounds and blocking one shot. The junior forward shot 8-of-11 from the floor. For the week, he averaged 9.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and shot 9-of-15 (60.0%).
 

NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK– Lavar Miller, Central State
Guard   |  Freshman  |  St. Louis, MO


 
CSU freshman guard Lavar Miller came off the bench to lift CSU to a 78-76 win over Clark Atlanta on Saturday. Miller helped CSU come back from a 14-point second half deficit by making 8-of-11 shot attempts, including 3-for-5 from beyond the arc. Miller finished with a game-high 22 points in 16 minutes of action.
