Taurean Taylor (Tuskegee) was named Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC)Football Offensive Player of the Week, while Loobert Denelus (Benedict) earned Defensive Player of the Week, released by the league office on Monday.
Arnes Huskic (Tuskegee) was also tabbed Special Teams Player of the Week alongside Dialo Mosley (Fort Valley State) who earned Newcomer of the Week.
OFFENSIVE – Taurean Taylor, Tuskegee | Running Back | Senior | Scottdale, Ga.
Taylor had another strong day on the ground for the Golden Tigers, rushing for a new career-high 232 yards against Central State, including a 93-yard score in the win. The senior also caught a pass for 21 yards along with four total scores on the ground as he helped Tuskegee win their fifth straight game.
DEFENSIVE – Loobert Denelus, Benedict | Defensive End | Junior | Naples, Fla.
Denelus led the Benedict defense that limited the Albany State Golden Rams to a season-low 90 yards rushing. The junior recorded 10 total tackles, three tackles for loss, and one sack.
SPECIAL TEAMS – Arnes Huskic, Tuskegee | Kicker | Senior | Jacksonville, Fla.
Huskic has continued his strong play on special teams, going 7-for-7 on extra point attempts against Central State. The senior also had eight kickoffs for a total of 506 yards, good for 63.3 yards per kick along with three touchbacks.
NEWCOMER – Dialo Mosley, Fort Valley State| Linebacker | Freshman | Atlanta, Ga.
Mosley recorded his second double-digit tackle game of the season with 11 and a fumble recovery in Saturday’s 56-28 win over Morehouse.
