Albany State baseball sweeps Spring Hill, secures #1 seed in SIAC tourney

The Albany State Golden Rams baseball team swept the Spring Hill College Badgers in a 3-game series to finish as the #1 seed in the upcoming SIAC Tournament that will be held in Albany. 
 
With the sweep, the Golden Rams finished the regular season with a (33-8) overall record and (30-2) in the SIAC.  The Golden Rams won 10 straight games to finish the regular season.  The Badgers are now (28-21) overall and (25-7) in the conference. 
 
In game #1, the Golden Rams defeated the Badgers (13-0).  Jeremiah Reddell was outstanding as he held the Badgers to 1 hit in the game.  Reddell improved to (11-0) on the season.  Hill Corley was hot from the plate.  Corley finished 4/5 from the plate with 4 RBIs.  Zane RossJonathan Logsdon and Nathan Lloyd also finished with 2 RBIs each in the game.
 
In game #2, the Golden Rams won a pitchers’ duel by the score of (2-0).  The Golden Rams scored 2 runs in the top of the 1st inning.  The Golden Rams took a (1-0) lead after Hill Corleyhit a single to left field to score Lavoisier Fisher.  The Golden Rams score their 2nd run will Austin Roberts hit a single to middle field to score Jonathan Logsdon.  Calvin Baker earned the win as he pitched 5 scoreless innings for the Golden Rams.  Baker only allowed 1 hit.  As a team, the Golden Rams only allowed 3 hits in the game.
 
In game #3, the Golden Rams defeated the Badgers (6-5).   In the top of the 8th inning, the Golden Rams extended their lead to (6-2) and hung on the victory.  Chase Karn earned the win for the Golden Rams.  Zane RossJonathan LogsdonTucker Jordan and Luke Addison finished with 2 hits each for the Golden Rams.
 
The 2023 SIAC Tournament will begin on Thursday, May 4.  The tournament will be held in Albany, Georgia.
