Grambling State put together a strong all-around performance Wednesday night, pulling away in the second half to secure an 80–64 Southwestern Athletic Conference victory over Prairie View A&M Panthers inside the William Nicks Building.
Grambling State built a narrow 23–21 advantage after the opening quarter and extended its lead to 43–32 at halftime behind balanced scoring and control of the glass.
The Lady Tigers then delivered their best stretch of the game in the third quarter outscoring Prairie View 27–10 to take a commanding 70–42 lead entering the final period.
Prairie View attempted to rally in the fourth quarter scoring 22 points, but Grambling State’s early cushion proved too much to overcome as the Lady Tigers closed out the 16-point road win.
Shaniah Nunn led Grambling State with 16 points and 13 rebounds, recording a double-double to anchor the effort.
Alisha Murray provided a spark off the bench with 13 points on 6-of-8 shooting while D’Mya Griffin added 12 points.
Zhaniah Ervin chipped in six points and Deborrah Seitu-Redmon contributed six more.
Grambling State shot 43.2 percent from the field and dominated the paint, scoring 56 points inside while also controlling second-chance opportunities.
Prairie View was led by CJ Wilson who finished with 24 points.
Margan Allen and Jacque Giron each added 10 points in the loss.
