UPDATE: Tennessee State’s 1998 and 1999 Championship Trophies Were Not Missing After All

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee State University’s 1998 and 1999 football championship trophies were never actually missing, bringing a positive end to a story that had sparked concern across the Tigers’ fan base.

Earlier this week, former TSU head football coach L.C. Cole posted on social media that he had been informed the championship trophies were missing and asked anyone with information about their whereabouts to come forward. The message quickly spread among Tennessee State alumni, former players, and supporters, many of whom expressed concern over the status of two of the most significant pieces of memorabilia in program history.

Fortunately, it has since been confirmed that the trophies are accounted for.

The update comes as welcome news for the Tennessee State community, which has long celebrated the achievements of the late-1990s Tigers teams. Those championship squads remain an important part of the program’s rich football tradition, and fans were quick to rally around preserving that history when questions arose.

While the initial report prompted understandable concern, the situation ultimately serves as a reminder of how deeply Tennessee State supporters value the legacy of the university’s athletic programs and the accomplishments of the student-athletes and coaches who helped build it.

With the trophies accounted for, Big Blue fans can breathe a sigh of relief knowing an important piece of TSU football history remains intact.
