Albany State baseball takes first two against Benedict

The Golden Rams won their 5th road game of the season when they swept the Tigers in a double header on Saturday to begin a 3-game series against Benedict College in Columbia, South Carolina. With the sweep, the Golden Rams improved to (18-5) overall and (16-1) in the SIAC while the Tigers are now (8-11) overall and (4-10) in the conference. 
 
In game 1, the Golden Rams defeated the Tigers (17-3).  In the top of the 2nd inning, Tucker Jordan hit a 2-run homerun to right field to give the Golden Rams a (6-2) lead.
 
The Golden Rams had an offensive explosion in the top of the 6th inning when they scored 9 runs.  Chase Karn hit a double to center field to give the Golden Rams a (10-2) advantage.  Luke Addison hit a single that scored 2 runs to extend the lead to (12-2).  Jaelyn Brooks hit a single to score a run.  Jonathan Logsdon hit a double to give the Golden Rams a commanding (16-2) advantage.  Bradley Smithhit a single to center field to score Jonathan Logsdon for the Golden Rams 17th run of the game.
 
Jeremiah Reddell improved to (6-0) on the season after pitching 7 innings and allowing 3 hits and 2 earned runs.
 
Tymon Holloman was the losing pitcher for the Tigers.  Holloman pitched 4 innings for the Tigers.
 
In game 2, the Golden Rams won (19-5).
 
After falling behind (3-0) in the bottom of the 1st inning, the Golden Rams bounced back to defeat the Tigers by 14 runs. 
 
The Golden Rams exploded for 10 runs in the top of the 4th inning.  Lavoisier Fisher hit a homerun in the 4th inning to give the Golden Rams a (5-3) lead.  Zane Ross hit an inside the park homerun to extend the lead to (6-3).  Nathan Lloyd hit a 2-run homerun to give the Golden Rams an (8-3) lead.  Luke Addison’ssingle extended the lead to (9-3).  Pierce Thomas hit a double to score Luke Addisonand Chase Karn.  Zane Ross hit a triple to score Jaelyn Brooks and Pierce Thomas.  Jonathan Logsdon’s single scored Zane Rossto give the Golden Rams a (14-3) lead.
 
In the top of the 5th inning, Cameron Paul hit a homerun to give the Golden Rams a (15-3) advantage. 
 
In the 6th inning, Bradley Smith hit a single to score Wade Rodeffer.  Jaelyn Brooks hit a triple to center field to score Pierce Thomas for the Golden Rams 18th run.
 
The Golden Rams finished the game with (4) homeruns, (3) triples, a double and (5) singles.
 
Elijah Dennis earned the win for the Golden Rams.  Dennis improved to (1-0) on the season.  Kenyan Conner, Jr. was the losing pitcher for the Tigers.
 
The Golden Rams and Tigers will play game 3 at 1:00 pm on Sunday, March 26.
