It was homecoming at Albany State University and the culmination of the weeklong parade of festivities, including an actual parade earlier this morning, was the matchup with the Maroon Tigers of Morehouse College.
In a dominant day of football, the Golden Rams put hoofs to rear ends, obliterating Morehouse 52-6 to end homecoming 2024 on a high note.
The Golden Rams’ run defense was stout all afternoon, holding the Maroon Tigers to a mere 18 yards on the ground whille running for 188 yards of their own, led by 96 from Tiant Wyche on 12 carries. ASU quaterback Iaiah Knowles completed 17-of-27 pases for 288 yards and 6 touchdowns.

Albany State Golden Rams put on a dominant performance in front of a packed homecoming crowd, defeating Morehouse College 52-6 at Albany State University Coliseum. With the win, the Golden Rams improved to 4-3 overall and 4-1 in conference play, while Morehouse fell to 1-6 and 0-4 in the SIAC.
Albany State quarterback Isaiah Knowles had an outstanding game, throwing six touchdown passes, including four to wide receiver Javion Jackson, who was unstoppable all afternoon. Jackson finished with four touchdown receptions, including a 67-yard strike early in the second quarter. The Golden Rams offense clicked from the start, with Knowles connecting with Xavier Herndon on a 3-yard touchdown pass for the first score.
The first quarter set the tone for the game, as Albany State jumped out to a quick 21-0 lead, with Knowles finding Jackson for a pair of touchdown passes, including a 42-yard bomb. By halftime, the Golden Rams had built a commanding 35-6 lead, with Morehouse’s only score coming from a 26-yard touchdown pass from Miles Scott to Noah Rhodes in the second quarter.
In the second half, Albany State extended their lead, with kicker Kyle Wright hitting a 35-yard field goal in the third quarter. Rontavion Scott added a 15-yard punt return for a touchdown early in the fourth quarter, and Knowles capped off his stellar day with a 25-yard touchdown pass to Devon Dorsey, sealing the 52-6 victory.
The Golden Rams defense and special teams were equally impressive, applying constant pressure on the Morehouse offense and forcing several key stops. Albany State held Morehouse to just six points and consistently dominated the field position battle.

The Golden Rams will host Edward Waters on Saturday, October 26, at 2 PM for their final home game of the season. It will be Senior Day, and the team will also recognize Breast Cancer Awareness during the game.
