The Albany State Golden Rams men and women were back in action on Saturday, December 4.  The Golden Rams men’s team hosted West Florida at 2:00 pm at the ASU West Arena while the women’s team played Georgia Southwestern at 2:00 pm in Americas, GA.       
 
Both teams were looking to avenge early season losses to both, West Florida and Georgia Southwestern, respectively.  The Golden Rams men lost 71-62 to West Florida and the women were defeated 62-37 by Georgia Southwestern on today.
 
Once again, the Golden Rams men’s team started slow as they trailed 41-31 at the half.  West Florida dominated on the interior as they outscored the Golden Rams 24-6 in the paint in the 1st half.  West Florida also outscored the Golden Rams 7-0 in bench points and 7-0 in fast break points in the half.
 
The Golden Rams would actually outscore West Florida in the 2nd half.  But, the slow start was too much to overcome.  For the game, West Florida outscored the Golden Rams 40-22 in the paint and 13-2 in points off the bench.
 
The Golden Rams were led in scoring by Malik Parker.  Parker finished with 21 points and 3 rebounds.  Victor Robinson scored 20 points for the Golden Rams (16 point in the 1st half).  Jordan Simpson finished with 13 points and 8 rebounds.  The Golden Rams are now 1-7 on the season.
 
Wendell Matthews led West Florida with 17 points and 6 rebounds while Daniel Sofield finished with 16 points and 7 rebounds.  Dave Petit-Homme contributed with 10 points and 16 rebounds.
 
The Golden Rams women’s team started strong against the Hurricanes.  The Golden Rams trailed by 1 point at the end of the 1stquarter.  However, things would change in the 2nd stanza as the Golden Rams would only manage to score 4 points.  As a result, the Golden Rams would trail 31-19 at the half.
 
Once again, the Golden Rams played a solid 3rd quarter as they were only outscored by 1 point (13-14) in the 3rd quarter.  But, all hopes of a comeback would end in the 4th quarter as the Golden Rams were outscored 17-5 in the period.
 
Kierra York was the lone Golden Ram in double figures.  York finished with 15 points and 3 rebounds to lead the Golden Rams.  The Golden Rams fall to 1-7 on the season.
