The Golden Rams of Albany State have broken into national rankings. ASU enters the AFCA Division II Coaches Poll, presented by Hudl at No. 21. In their most recent outing, Albany State thoroughly dominated then No. 21-ranked Benedict 31-3 in a battle of SIAC undefeateds, firmly establishing the Golden Rams at the zenith of the SIAC.
The Golden Rams’ defense also played big holding the Tigers to just 63 yards on the ground and making the day a nightmare for Benedict quarterback Darius Ocean, as he completed just 10 of 28 passes for 158 yards and an interception.
This marks the first time since October 10, 2022, that the Golden Rams have garnered the attention of the national poll.
At 7-1 overall and 6-0 in the SIAC, the hottest team in the SIAC, as well as the No. 1-ranked team in Dr. Cavil’s Inside the HBCU Sports Lab Week 9 Mid-Major top 7, hosts Savannah State on Saturday. The Tigers got by the Golden Rams 28-26 last season.
