A reunion between Ayo Dosunmu and the Chicago Bulls may not be off the table after all.
According to Kendall Gill, Dosunmu would be receptive to returning to Chicago. Gill revealed that conversations he’s had with the former Bulls guard this summer suggest the interest is there on Dosunmu’s side should an opportunity arise.
“I know Ayo, from my conversations with him this summer, would be open to [returning to Chicago],” Gill said.
Dosunmu has spent his entire NBA career with the Bulls since being selected in the second round of the 2021 NBA Draft. The Chicago native quickly became a fan favorite thanks to his toughness, defensive intensity, and willingness to embrace any role asked of him.
Over four seasons, Dosunmu developed into a dependable rotational player capable of defending multiple positions while providing steady scoring and playmaking. His familiarity with the organization and connection to the city make him a unique fit compared to other potential free-agent targets.
The Bulls continue to navigate a transitional period as they look to balance veteran leadership with younger talent. Bringing back a player who understands the culture and expectations of the franchise could provide stability in the backcourt while maintaining roster flexibility.
While there is no indication that a deal is imminent, mutual interest often serves as the first step toward a potential agreement. As Chicago evaluates its offseason options, Dosunmu’s openness to a return is a storyline worth monitoring.
For Bulls fans, the prospect of seeing a hometown product back in a Chicago uniform is certain to generate excitement as the offseason progresses.
