Bowie State comes up short against Shepherd, 66-55

BOWIE, MD —The Bowie State men’s basketball team got a 33-point showing from the bench, but fell 66-55 to the Shepherd Rams at home Sunday.

The Bulldogs (2-5) had two players score in double figures, led by Quinton Drayton (Bowie, MD), who had 12 points. Kyree Freeman-Davis (Bowie, MD) added 11 points and two steals from the bench and Joel Webb (Forestville, MD) added six points, eight rebounds and two steals.

Webb pulled down four offensive rebounds to pace the Bowie State offense which grabbed 12 boards and turned them into 13 second chance points.

How It Happened
After falling behind 12-7, Bowie State went on an 8-0 run with 12:49 left in the first half, culminating in a three from Drayton, to take a 15-12 lead. The Bulldogs then lost some of that lead, but still entered halftime with a 32-31 advantage. Bowie State got a great contribution from its bench in the period, as non-starters accounted for 18 of its 32 total points.

Shepherd (3-2) then erased the Bulldogs lead in the game’s final quarter for a 66-55 comeback victory. Bowie State got a boost from its bench in the period, as non-starters accounted for 15 of its 23 total points.
