The Bowie State University football team earned two selections to the 2021 Don Hansen Division II All-America Team, the Don Hansen Football Committee announced on Feb. 1. Defensive lineman Jonathan Ross was named to Don Hansen All-America First Team and offensive lineman Quinton Bobo was named to the Don Hansen All-America Second Team.

The duo of All-Americans marks the fifth-straight season that Bowie State football has featured at least one player on the Don Hansen All-America Team after landing four team members in 2019. BSU has also featured a Don Hansen All-American First Team honoree for the second-straight season.

Ross, a redshirt sophomore from Waldorf, Md., was the NCAA DII Super Region II Defensive Player of the Year, D2Football.com Elite 100 Squad, BOXTOROW HBCU All-American, All-Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) First Team and Division II Conference Commissioner’s Association (D2CCA) All-Super Region II First Team selection, numerous CIAA Player of the Week honors and DC Touchdown Washington Metro Football Player of the Week honor roll recognitions this season. Ross led the Bulldogs in total tackles (81), tackle for losses (28), sacks (10), forced fumbles (6) while recording eight quarterback pressures and break up.

Bobo, a senior from White Plains, Md., was an All-CIAA First Team, BOXTOROW HBCU All-American and Super Region II First Team All-American this season. He started all 14 games and was one of the key components to the Bulldogs offense in 2021, compiling 4,923 yards of total offense including 2,489 rushing yards and 25 rushing touchdowns for a conference second-best.

The Don Hansen team carries out the legacy of long-time, small college football advocate Don Hansen, who passed away at age 75 on Aug. 29, 2010. Hansen, from Brookfield, Ill., started and published Don Hansen’s National Weekly Football Gazette for the decades, selecting NCAA Division II All-America teams for the first time in 1988. Don Hansen’s National Weekly Football Gazette began selecting Division II All-Region squads in 2003.
