Carmelo Anthony out against Timberwolves

Carmelo Anthony will not be available for the Trail Blazers’ game against the Minnesota Timberwolves Saturday night. Melo suffered a knee contusion in the first half of the team’s game Friday night against the Orlando Magic that kept him out of the second half. Since being signed by the Blazers earlier this season, Anthony, for the most part, has played pretty good basketball, averaging 16.9 points, 6.2 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game.

Gordon Hayward out tonight versus Pistons

Boston Celtics forward Gordon Hayward will miss the team’s Friday night game against the Detroit Pistons. Hayward had been scratched from the Celtics’ game versus the Mavericks on Wednesday. Head coach Brad Stevens said Hayward has been dealing with pain in his left foot for a few weeks. John Karalis of MassLive.com reports that Hayward underwent an MRI and no structural damage was found.

Marc Gasol out a few weeks with hamstring issue

Toronto Raptors center Marc Gasol will be sidelined a few weeks with a hamstring injury, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. Gasol left Wednesday’s game against the Toronto Raptors with a left hamstring strain after just eight minutes on the floor. Though he is averaging just 6.6 points ( a career low) , 6.6 rebounds and 1.1 blocks, Gasol has started all 27 games he has appeared in and that due to the defensive prowess he still has, even at 34 years old.
