Celtics’ Brown to miss game against Heat

The Boston Celtics and coach Brad Stevens announced earlier today that forward Jaylen Brown ( lower back spasms) would likely be out for the team’s game Wednesday night against the Miami Heat. Brown is averaging 13 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists this season, but has not taken the step forward that many thought he would coming off the strong play he exhibited in the later portion of last season as well as during their playoff run that came up half a quarter short of ending in the NBA Finals.

It appears Lebron James’ first playoff-less offeseason in over a decade will start even earlier than anticipated. According to the Dallas Morning News’ Brad Townsend, Dallas Mavericks rookie extraordinaire Luka Doncic will Sunday’s road game against the Oklahoma City Thunder with a right high contusion. Doncic suffered the injury after gettting hit on knee during the team’s game against the Miami Heat on Thursday. Townsend also added that Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle has indicated that the team will take a “cautions approach” with Doncic. Danilo Gallinari is out with ankle injury

Los Angeles Clippers forward Danilo Gallinari will miss the team’s game with the Cleveland Cavaliers with a sore ankle, according to the LA Times’ Brad Turner. Gallinari has been hampered by injuries in the past, but has been relatively healthy this game, playing in 64 games and averaging 19.4 rebounds and 6.1 rebounds per contest. He has helped the Clippers more than exceed the expectations of many, firmly entrenching themselves in the Western Conference playoff hunt.

Raptors’ McCaw out three weeks

According to ESPN’s Marc J. Spears, Toronto Raptors guard is out with a sprained right thumb. The three weeks that he will have to wear the splint will likely mean that he will not be available for the Raptors in the first round of the Eastern Conference Playoffs.
