Denver Nuggets break off head coach Michael Malone

In a stunning move the Denver Nuggets have fired head coach Michael Malone and general manager Calvin Booth, per reporting from Shams Charania of ESPN.  Malone was hired as Nugget’s head coach in 2015 and oversaw the team’s ascension, culminating in an NBA championship in 2023.  The Nuggets are 47-32, sitting fourth in a very competitive Western Conference. Courtesy of Fox Sports Detroit Pistons big Isaiah Stewart was suspended for two games and four other players from the Pistons and Minnesota Timberwolves drew one-game suspensions for their roles in an on-court altercation between the teams earlier this week, the NBA said Tuesday. Stewart got two games “based in part on his repeated history of unsportsmanlike acts,” the league said. Gary Payton II is out indefinitely with thumb injury

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, Golden State Warriors guard Gary Payton II has suffered a torn ligament in his left thumb. Charania adds that Payton II will be out for an indefinite amount of time.  Payton II is an active, engaged, and effective defender who is a vital part of the Warriors rotation, with his impact far greater than the 6.6 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.3 assists he averages per game. Golden State Warriors forward Jimmy Butler has been slapped with a lawsuit for unpaid rent and damages concerning a luxury home in Miami Beach, FL that he leased.
