Enes Kanter, where are you?

Brandon King

To basketball fans, the gentlemen pictured in the title image should be quite familiar. As you may recall NBA player Enes Kanter Freedom had a lot over the past couple of years, going on national television to daftly finger-wag at Lebron James as he laid responsibility at the feet of the NBA Superstar for the skepticism of and reluctance to take the COVID-19 vaccination.  Freedom was also critical of Lebron and Nike for the, according to him, their complicity via their silence over the plight of the whygars in China.…

The “Trials of Kyrie” are not about reconciliation but humiliation and subjugation

Brandon King

Kyrie Irving has been the talk of the news cycle and unfortunately it has nothing to do with his prodigious basketball talent. When he decided that he no longer to wanted to play with LeBron James in the summer of 2017 , that was the genesis of the shift of how he was perceived , particularly in the sports media. Since then , and at times partially because of his own actions, has been a consistent target of derision from the media and that rancor has spilled over into the…

I never thought I’d see the day…

Brandon King

For a variety of reasons, there are truly bizarre times in which we currently inhabit. In many ways up is now down and right now left. The Kyrie Irving has exposed a lot of black personalities in sports as the buck broken company me. They truly are. Surprisingly, unbelievably a voice who has run counter to this narrative is Jason Whitlock-yes you read that correctly. To be clear I have multiple disagreements with Whitlock but his recent monologue in which he raised the question of why Amazon and Jeff Bezos…

Brandon King

Kyrie Irving has been the talk of the NBA world since his infamous social media post that has been called antiemetic ( but no one has specifically said why). As if they needed any reason to castigate Kyrie, various talking heads from the sporting world and outside the sports space have been letting Irving have it. The NBA wasted no time , issuing a statement condemning the post and commissioner Adam Silver set to meet with Kyrie next week. The swiftness of the NBA is a stark contrast of how…

Player Spotlight- Wendell Carter Continuing our unintentional highlight of former Chicago Bulls lottery picks finding their NBA footing once they depart the Windy City is Wendell Carter Jr. After 3 seasons with the Bulls that were wrought with production that belied his with the number 7 overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, Carter was traded to Orlando as part of the deal that brought Nikola Vucevic to Chicago. Since his arrival in in the Magic Kingdom, he averaged 14.3 points and 10.0 rebounds and has seemingly solidified himself as…

Steve Nash out in Brooklyn, but Ime Udoka likely in

Brandon King

The Brooklyn Nets have gently fired, aka, “mutually parted ways” with head coach Steve Nash, in a move that was abrupt, but not terribly astonishing. The Nets have stumbled out of the blocks with a 2-5 start, despite having the third-highest payroll in the Association, two All-NBA level talents in Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, an enigmatic All-Star in Ben Simmons and loads of shooting. The confidence that the Nets claimed to have in Nash on the midst of the Kevin Durant trade request saga this summer took but seven…
