Albany State names Patrick Gayle as Men’s Basketball Coach

Albany State introduced Patrick Gayle as their new Men’s Basketball coach as a press conference earlier this week. Gayle comes to the Golden Rams after compiling a 125-51 record , two regular season conference championships and four NAIA tournament berths in six seasons as the head coach at Division II St. Thomas University. Last season he led St.Thomas to a 23-8 record and the Sun Conference regular season title. Gayle was also named the Sun Conference Coach of the Year. Twenty-Nine Student-Athletes received degrees at Albany State Spring Commencement

Of the nearly 600 students that received their degrees Saturday during Albany State University’s Fall Commencment, twenty-nine of them were student-athletes. Split over the course of the morning and evening sessions, the twenty-nine student-athletes represented eight teams. Dana Ford takes Missouri State Head Coaching Job

Tennessee State’s Dana Ford to take Missouri State job

Sources have told ESPN that Missouri State is expected to hire Tennessee State’s Dana Ford as its head coach. He replaces Paul Lusk whose ballclubs never finished higher than third in the Missouri Valley Conference. Coach Ford has been at TSU’s helm for four season. For the second consecutive year the Texas Southern Tigershave seized the Southwestern Athletic Conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. They earned that spot by defeating the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff in the SWAC tournament final 84-69. One half of the matchup of the 2018 Southwestern Athletic Conference Championship has been set. Arkansas-Pine Bluff advanced by defeating Southern 71-65 earlier this evening. UAPB enjoyed a 19-11 lead before Southern blitzed them with a 19-4 run to put the Jaguars up 30-23. Texas Southern’s on fire shooting in the second half to claim victory over Alabama State 90-76 and advance to the semifinals of the SWAC Men’s Basketball Tournamemt. The second seeded Prarie View A&M Panthers dispatched the seventh seed Alcorn State 87-71 last night in the opening round of the SWAC Men’s Basketball Tournament. Prarie View’s J.D.
