FAMU’s Land and Sheread named to 2022 Stats Perform FCS Preseason All-American First Team

A total of nine Southwestern Athletic Conference student-athletes have been named to the 2022 Stats Perform FCS Preseason All-American Team.

Isaiah Land (FAMU), Jah’Marae Sheread (FAMU), Jordan Lewis (SU), Kemari Averett (B-CU), Isaiah Bolden (JSU), Abdul-Fatai Ibrahim (AAMU), Xavier Smith (FAMU), Mark Evans II (UAPB), and Travis Hunter (JSU) were each selected as members of the team.

Florida A&M’s Land and Sheread highlight the list of SWAC selections named to the Stats Perform FCS Preseason All-American Team.

At the conclusion of regular season play, Land led the nation with 25.5 tackles for loss and 19 sacks. He also added three forced fumbles, two pass breakups, and one fumble recovery. He was named SWAC Defensive Player of the Week after setting a Rattlers’ record of five sacks versus South Carolina State. Land recorded a sack or tackles for loss in ten of the 11 games this past season and recorded two or more sacks in five games and did the same for tackles for loss in six games.

Sheread earned Stats Perform FCS Preseason All-American First Team honors after leading the nation in yards per punt return with 19.9. He had 358 punt return yards and one punt return touchdown.  Sheread has also been named to the Preseason Athlon Sports All-American Team.

All 15 FCS conferences and 57 schools are represented among the 105 All-Americans, which included 56 players who were postseason All-Americans previously.
