Fisk Basketball takes home multiple GCAC Awards

The Fisk University women’s basketball team had an incredible showing at the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC) awards ceremony today at Tougaloo College in Jackson, MS. Senior Maya Buckhanon (SR/Talladega, AL) received the top honors, winning the GCAC Player of the Year, All-Defensive Team, Defensive Player of the Year, Newcomer of the Year, and 1st Team All Conference awards.

Assistant Coach Anthony Cooper earned the title of Assistant Coach of the Year, and Sophomore Anaya Davis (SO/O’Fallon, IL) received 2nd Team All Conference honors. The Lady Bulldogs were also highly honored as the GCAC runner up for regular season play.

The Fisk University women’s basketball team have had an incredible season so far under the leadership of Victoria Crawford and the tenacity of the players. It’s clear that the hard work and dedication of the team has paid off in the form of these awards. Congratulations to the Lady Bulldogs for their impressive achievements!
