Florida A&M University has made a major addition on the defensive side of the ball, securing a commitment from former CIAA Defensive Player of the Year Breasia Coit via the transfer portal.
Colt, who made her name as one of the most dominant defenders in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association, now brings elite production and experience to Tallahassee as the Rattlers continue to reload their defense with proven talent.
During her standout campaign, Coit averaged a team-leading 13.1 points and 12.3 rebounds per game , with the later pacing the CIAA.
Coit’s on court exploits led to her being named CIAA Defensive Player of the Year honors, along with All-CIAA First Team recognition, solidifying her status as one of the top players on both sides of the ball in the conference.
Now at Florida A&M, Coit steps into a team that will be in need of her defense and presence on the glass. The Rattlers were the 9th worst defensive unit in the SWAC, allowing 69.7 points per contest and had the 10th worst rebounding margin in the SWAC at -4.9.
Coit has the ability to be plug-and-play contributor who could make an immediate impact.
With her production, versatility, and proven ability to perform at a high level, Coit has the tools to quickly become a difference-maker in the Rattlers’ defensive rotation.
If her Division II dominance translates to the next level, Florida A&M may have just added one of the most impactful defensive transfers in the HBCU landscape this offseason.
