MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. |Florida Memorial won a much needed conference contest, snapping a 5-game skid as the Lions smashed Keiser 82-63 at the FMU Wellness Center.

FMU guard Rod Boggan played a huge role in the victory, scoring a team-high 17 points to go along with five boards and five assists, but it was Long Island native Tavin Pierre-Philippe who produced a game-high 24 points and five rebounds for the Lions, who led by eight points at the break and pressed forward in the latter half, scoring nearly 50 second-half points.

As a team, FMU dominated the glass 48-42 and finished with 10 total blocks.

Former NAIA All-American Jordan Jackson came off the bench to score 13 points and connected on 3-of-4 from downtown while teammate Cam’Ron Wilsonfinished with 12 points in the win.

Freshman center Emmanuel Umoffia, nicknamed the “Great Wall of Nigeria” by his head coach, was a presence in the paint and generated six blocks and six rebounds for FMU, who improve to 2-8 in conference play.

FMU returns to action on Saturday, January 28 as they face Warner in Sun Conference action. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m. in Lake Wales, Fla.
