The Charlotte Hornets will be without forward Gordon Hayward for at least the next four weeks. Saturday the Hornets announced the star forward had sprained his right foot and would be reevaluated in about four weeks.
Hayward suffered the injury in the second quarter of the team’s Friday night win over the Indiana Pacers.
Though the Hornets currently find themselves fourth in the Eastern Conference with a 25-23 record, the loss of Hayward is quite a blow. Already without the services of rookie sensation LaMelo Ball, who is out for the season with a fractured wrist, the Hornets will be hard pressed to replace both players’ productivity and impact.
This season Hayward has more resembled the player we saw in Utah( and the player Boston thought they signed before the 17-18 season) , averaging 19.6 points, 5.9 rebounds and 4.1 assists in 44 games he has played in.
