The Howard University softball team travels to Manoa, Hawaii for the Outrigger Invitational, hosted by the Rainbow Wahine. The Lady Bison open the tournament against the University of Hawaii Wednesday (Feb. 26) at 11 p.m. (ET), live on ESPN+.
Howard meets the University of Washington (Feb. 27) at 6 p.m. (ET). Friday (Feb. 28), Howard faces Jackson State University (JSU) at 4 p.m. (ET) and the University of Washington at 6:30 p.m. (ET). HU’s final games of the tournament are against JSU at 3 p.m. (ET) and the Rainbow Wahine at 5:30 p.m. (ET), which are scheduled for Saturday (March 1).

WEEKEND PREVIEW
HOWARD
Last week, the Lady Bison (4-8) finished winless (0-5) in the Mary Nutter Classic, in Palm Springs, Calif.
Freshman Lauryn Jones (Denton, Texas) led the Bison offense during the Mary Nutter Classic, going 2-of-3 with a run scored against No. 16 Nebraska.
Sophomore Angel Riggins (San Diego) recorded a 2-of-3 performance with an RBI against Long Beach State and adding another RBI-single versus Loyola-Marymount (LMU).
HAWAII
Hawaii (10-6) competed in the Mary Nutter Classic (Feb. 21-23), securing a victory against Nevada (4-0). They faced losses to BYU (3-4), Saint Mary’s (Calif.) (7-9), LMU (4-5) and San Diego State (0-8).
WASHINGTON
Washington (9-7) also played in the Mary Nutter Classic, earning victories against UC Riverside (10-0), UC Santa Barbara (10-5) and Fresno State (6-4). They lost to BYU (1-3) and Cal Berkeley (4-6). Monday (Feb. 24), Washington played CSUN, winning 11-0.
JACKSON STATE
JSU (10-2) competed in the Capital City Classic while going undefeated (3-0). They defeated Arkansas-Pine Bluff (14-2), Tuskegee (12-4) and Grambling State (5-1).
LAST TIMEOUT
Howard had a tough run at the Mary Nutter Classic, coming up short in all their matchups. They went head-to-head with No.11 Duke (1-13), San Jose State (1-10), No. 16 Nebraska (1-11), Long Beach State (1-9) and LMU (2-10) but could not secure a win.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
Wednesday (March 6), HU heads to College Park, Md., to face the University of Maryland. First-pitch is slated for 6 p.m.
