GENEVA, Ohio (February 23, 2024) – Howard University women’s swimming & diving team maintains second after Day Four of the Northeast Conference (NEC) Championships.
HU produced 883 points after four days of competition, but trails reigning NEC Central Connecticut State has widened the gap (1,122.5 points) with one day remaining.
Juniors Kelsey Roberson (West Orange, N.J.) and Zaylie-Elizabeth Thompson (Nassau, Bahamas), sophomore Zuilda Nwaeze (Columbia, Md.) and rookie Chanice Posada(Houston) capped off the night with a second-place finish in the 400 Medley Relay, producing a 3:45.50 time.
Individually, Posada and fellow classmate Myeisha Sharrieff (Bermuda) took part in the 100 Back, placing second (55.34) and eighth (57.28), respectively.
Seniors Michaela Spears (Chicago) and Isabella Fountain(White Plains, N.Y.) found success in the 100 Breast, earning second (1:03.45) and eighth (1:06.46), respectively.
Other noteworthy performances included Nwaeze and senior Alana Josey (York, Pa.) competing in the 200 Fly where they finished fourth (2:04.96) and sixth (2:07.76), respectively.
HU wraps up competition Saturday (Feb. 23) with prelims at 10 a.m., followed by the final round at 6 p.m.
