John Wall to undergo surgery on injured heel; will miss rest of season

The Washington Wizards’efforts to right the ship this season just took another kick in the nether region.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and Brian Windhorst have reported that Washington Wizards guard John Wall is plannning to have surgery on his injured left heel.

Shams Charania of the Athletic reported that Wall “tried to battle through the pain in his injured heel” to try to help reroute the Wizards’ derailed season. Charania adds that Wall will be out for six to eight months.

The Washington Post’s Candace Buckner reported that this has been an issue that Wall has dealt with for years and that this season the pain had become “intolerable” this season.

Although Wall is averaging 20.7 points and 8.7 assists per game this season, he has not resembled the player that garnered a 4 year, $170 million extension that will kick in next season. This ,in part, has played a role in Washington needing a telescope to see the top of the Eastern Conference.
