Londyn Walker transfers from North Carolina A&T to Alabama State

Roster movement across HBCU women’s basketball continues, as the former North Carolina A&T guard Londyn Walker has found a new home. Walker is headed to Alabama State, giving the Hornets another addition as they continue to reshape their roster through the transfer portal.

Walker, the 2024-25 MaxPreps Player of the Year, departs North Carolina A&T following a freshman campaign in which she appeared in 7 contests, is now joining an Alabama State squad looking to build depth and competitiveness heading into the upcoming season.

While Walker a standout at Milton High School (GA) where she averaged 16.9 points, 6.7 rebounds and 6.3 assists, may not have been one of the most nationally publicized names in the portal, moves like this often prove impactful within conference play—particularly in leagues like the SWAC, where roster continuity and guard play can heavily influence outcomes on a game-to-game basis.

For Alabama State, the addition of Walker represents another step in constructing a roster capable of competing more consistently within the conference. Guard depth is critical, and adding a player with Division I experience provides both insurance and potential upside.

Meanwhile, North Carolina A&T continues to navigate offseason roster turnover, a growing reality across college basketball in the transfer portal era. Player movement has become a defining feature of the modern game, and programs at every level are adjusting accordingly.

As the Hornets continue to add pieces, Walker will look to carve out a role and make an immediate impact in Montgomery.
