Stephen Curry remains the NBA’s ultimate late-game shooting threat in the eyes of the league’s general managers.

When the clock is winding down and a game comes down to one possession, who gets the basketball? According to the NBA’s 2026–27 General Manager Survey, the answer is Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry.

Curry received 50% of the votes when general managers were asked which player they would want taking a shot with the game on the line. New York Knicks guard Jalen Brunson finished second with 17%, while Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Dončić and Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander tied for third with 10% apiece.

Houston Rockets forward Kevin Durant rounded out the top five with 7%.

Stephen Curry Continues to Earn the GMs’ Trust

Curry’s selection reflects his reputation as one of basketball’s most dangerous shooters, particularly when defenses know the ball is coming his way.

The four-time NBA champion also dominated the survey’s shooting categories. He received 97% of the votes for best pure shooter and 80% for best player at moving without the ball.

Those numbers reinforce why Curry remains such a difficult player to defend. His shooting range, constant movement and ability to create space can turn a seemingly well-defended possession into a game-changing moment.

Who Would NBA GMs Trust With the Final Shot?

Here is how the top five finished in the 2026–27 NBA GM Survey’s game-winning-shot category:

T-3Shai Gilgeous-Alexander10%

Nikola Jokić and Damian Lillard also received votes.

Curry’s 50% share represents an increase from the 47% he received in the previous GM survey, further cementing his standing among the league’s most trusted shot-makers.

The Verdict

The NBA has no shortage of elite scorers capable of delivering in the closing seconds. Brunson, Dončić, Gilgeous-Alexander and Durant all have compelling cases of their own.

But when the league’s general managers were asked to make the call, Curry separated himself from the competition.

Now it’s your turn: If your team needs one basket to win, are you giving the ball to Stephen Curry or Jalen Brunson?
