DURHAM, N.C. – The North Carolina Central Department of Athletics announced on Thursday a new partnership with Peak Sports MGMT to oversee multimedia rights and enhance the NCCU Athletics marketing brand.
“We are excited about this opportunity to create additional revenue through a well-established and highly regarded company, Peak Sports MGMT,” NCCU Director of Athletics Dr. Ingrid Wicker McCree said. “Peak Sports MGMT has proven success in developing relationships between athletics programs and the corporate community, which will enhance our program and allow us to meet our financial goals as outlined in our strategic initiatives.”
Peak Sports will manage and sell all sponsorship inventory for NC Central Athletics, including venue signage, program advertising, digital and web content, game sponsorships and special events, along with several other opportunities.
“Peak Sports is extremely proud of our partnership with North Carolina Central University,” Ryan Holloway, President Peak Sports MGMT, said. “It means a lot to us to partner with the Eagles as they enter their second decade of Division I athletics.”
Holloway added, “Given the climate in today’s world, we find it of great importance that we are announcing an HBCU partner. We strongly feel that North Carolina Central is a premier HBCU and this is because of the leadership of Dr. Ingrid Wicker McCree. As a 50% female-owned business, it is also a great moment for us to sign our first partnership with a female AD.”
The agreement between NC Central and Peak Sports, which is for 10 years, provides NCCU Athletics with a significant financial guarantee each year and a revenue-sharing amount distributed once the thresholds are met.
Due to the global pandemic, the start of this partnership will not take place until early 2021. In the interim, Peak Sports is actively searching for a General Manager and Account Executive. The General Manager, along with an Account Executive, will serve as full-time staff members of NCCU and will fully integrate themselves with the university, athletics department, and the Durham community and beyond.
