November 8 SWAC Football Weekly Honorees

From the Southwestern Athletic Conference:

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Southwestern Athletic Conference has named Alabama A&M’s Dee Anderson, Arkansas-Pine Bluff’s Skyler Perry and Andre Fuller, Florida A&M’s Jose Romo-Martinez along with Jackson State’s Shedeur Sanders its SWAC Football Players of the Week for their outstanding performances during games played this past week of competition.

Co-Offensive- Dee Anderson , Wide Receiver , Alabama A&M

Anderson hauled in seven receptions for a career-high 122 yards and three touchdowns during Alabama A&M’s 42-14 win over Mississippi Valley State on Saturday. He currently leads the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) in touchdowns scored this season with a total of 11 TDs.



Co-Offensive- Skyler Perry, Quarterback, Arkansas-Pine Bluff

Perry played a significant role in helping the Golden Lions capture their first conference victory over Grambling State. He completed 11 passes for 163 yards and two touchdowns and also contributed 146 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns. He amassed over 300 yards of total offense during the game while leading UAPB to victory. 



Defensive- Andre Fuller, Defensive Back, Arkansas-Pine-Bluff

 Fuller intercepted a pass at the Golden Lions’ four-yard line and returned it 95 yards to the Grambling State one-yard line. UAPB subsequently ran out the final minutes of regulation. Fuller contributed eight pass breakups along with five solo tackles, including a five-yard sack.


Specialist– 

Romo-Martinez had a perfect night kicking the ball going 3-3 on field goals and 2-2 on extra points in the Rattlers 29-17 win at Southern. He also handled kickoff duties and punted for Florida A&M. Romo-Martinez had seven kickoffs that averaged 61 yards per kick and four punts for 160 yards while pinning the Jaguars inside the 20 once.



Newcomer- 

Sanders completed 25-for-41 passes for three touchdowns and no interceptions in the Tigers 41-21 win over Texas Southern. He has thrown 23 touchdown passes this season and moves into sole possession of eighth place in touchdown passes in a season at JSU. Sanders is completing 67.35 percent of his passes, which ranks first in the SWAC.
