The Albany State women’s volleyball took part in the 2022 Warhawk Invitational, which was held September 9-10 in Montgomery, Alabama.
In their opening match ASU faced off against the Univers of West Alabama, losing in three sets,( 25-21, 25-17, 26-24) . In a losing effort, Sydney Melton lead the Golden Rams with a kills, Hailey Elyicio had 5 aces, Molly Wilson had a team-high 15 assist, and Mary Peterson had 4 blocks.
For the victors, Madison Fisher led the team in kills with 10 and aces with 4. Chyna Dixon had a team-high 16 assists, Quiara Dunson recorded 14 digs and Amelia Johnigan contributed 3 blocks.
September 10 Albany State took on Shorter University and host, Auburn University at Montgomery.
The Golden Rams tell to the Hawks of Shorter in four sets ( 25-13, 25-15, 20-25, and 25-14); Hailey Elyicio had a team-high 13 digs. AUM took care of ASU in three sets: (25-8, 25-21, 25-13).
Sydney Melton and Kennedi Wallace were both named to the 2022 AUM Warhawk Invitational All-Tournament Team.
Up next is a trip to Columbia, SC to take on the Tigers of Benedict College Tueday, September 13 with a 6pm start time.
