Wednesday the SIAC announced their week 10 baseball Players of the Week. Edward Waters shirstop Payton Shubert was named Player of the Week and Miles’ Kody Lon garnered Pitcher of the Week honours.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Payton Shubert, Edward Waters| Short Stop | Senior | Pensacola, Florida
The senior shortstop led EWU’s offensive efforts in their three-game sweep of Savannah State. In 14 plate appearances in the series, Shubert hit .429, slugged .857, with six hits, a double, a triple, a HR, five RBIs, four runs scored, and a stolen base.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Kody Long, Miles | Pitcher | Senior | Pleasant Grove, AL
Long pitched a 1-hit shutout in Miles’ 8-0 win over Tuskegee. The senior allowed a single to the leadoff batter, then retired the final 21 hitters he faced. He did not walk a batter and struck out a care
