A Southwest Miami-Dade area storage facility found itself the victim of a burglary, with multiple units being hit, including one one containing hundreds of pairs of expensive sneakers.
The victims said that management at the CubeSmart located on 75th Ave near Bird Road informed them that the thieves arrived at the facility Tuesday around midnight and were there for hours. A couple of the victims indicated they feel the security at the storage facility is lacking , with one of them saying, “It was way too easy for a group of criminals to come in and spend as long as they did.” It seems that facility management further dropped the proverbial ball by not immediately informing the victims of the burglary. Victims , speaking to Miami’s WSVN under the guise of anonymity, said they were not notified until they came to the facility for unrelated reasons. One person said , ““I found out because yesterday I stopped by to pick up four shoes I have to send out today, and I saw that tape.”
The man whose unit contained sneakers, said he had more than 300 pairs of sneakers in his unit, but that is no longer the case, saying , “they only left like 80 shoes,” He said that only the modest expensive pairs were taken, estimating he was out of $100k worth of footwear adding , “they specifically went for all the good stuff,” He said this incident has made him conclude his time with sneakers saying, he is going to sell what he has left.
