Stupid Things People Do For Sneakers: Lenox Square shopper robbed at gunpoint

The latest edition of Stupid Things People Do For Sneakers takes us to Atlanta, GA, where a Lenox Square Mall shopper found himself staring down the barrel of a gun.

Acccording to a police report from Atlanta PD, the customer purchased a pair of Air Jordans at the Nike store located at the front entrance of the mall. As he made his way back to his vehicle, two males in a red Chevy Camaro pulled up on him. One of the males got out the car pulled out a semi-automatic handgun, pointed it at and subsequently relived the shopper of his recently purchased sneakers and his wallet.

The robber took $100 from his wallet before returning it, now bereft of cash, to the victim. The gun-toting thief then proceeded to search the victim’s Nissan but apparently did not find anything he decided was taking.

The robber got back in the Camaro and they drove off.

The victim then flagged down a nearby off duty policeman to report what happened. He described his robber as a 20-25 -year-old man approximately 6-fet-tall with slender build and long dreadlocks.

Mall surveillance captured most of the incident.

Chris Rich, a secuirty consultant of Hawque Protection Group says that robber often work in teams. The crooks may place a ”spotter” inside a store that will monitor purchases. The spotter will call his accomplices outside who will then rob the target.

If you are a man or a woman and you are carrying a (hot item), you might want to ask the mall for an escort to your car

Lenox Mall does offer security escorts for concerned shoppers.
