A sneaker seller in Bethlehem, PA found himself the victim of a robbery.
Court records state the victim told police that he had arranged through Snapchat to meet with an individual named “Bengi” to trade sneakers.
When he arrived the predetermined meeting location at a bit after 5 pm on October 13, he found four males waiting. As he was speaking with “Bengi” he was allegedly grabbed from behind and tossed to the ground and was subsequently punched and kicked by the group of male. Records also state one person in the group grabbed the backpack, which contained a $130 pair of Uggs and a pair of $450 Yeezys.
The victim told his parents and police were called by a witness and officers dispatched. After speaking to the witness who made the initial call to law enforcement the officer responded to East Firth Street where he found the victim and 18-year-old Manuel Diaz, who was carrying the backpack in question and was also identified by the victim as of the of the perpetrators.
A subsequent search of Diaz also revealed he was carrying five baggies that contained marijuana.
Diaz was arrested and charged with robbery, receiving stolen property, simple assault marijuana possession and harassment. He was arraigned by District Judge Robert Weber and his bail was set at $25,000 with a 10% cash option. He was released the day after his arraignment after his $2500 cash bail was posted.
At this juncture it is not clear if others have been charged in connection with this incident.
