JCSU’ Darius Ocean named BOXTOROW HBCU National Player of the Week

Johnson C. Smith quarterback Darius Ocean was named HBCU National Player of the Week by BOXTOROW. In the Golden Bulls’ 21-14 defeat of Shaw, Ocean completed 24-of-32 passes for 265 yards, 3 touchdowns, and no interceptions. Johnson C. Smith remains undefeated with 42-3 thrashing of Bluefield State

Smith University scored majority of their points in the second quarter as JCSU defeated Bluefield State, 42-3, in Salem, Va.  JCSU’s Tyrek Williams caught a 27-yard pass from Darius Ocean, as Jacob Meneses adding the extra point putting JCSU up 7-0.  Avante George scored on a one-yard run, with Meneses again successful on the kick, extending the lead to 14-0.  Williams caught another touchdown pass from  Ocean, this time for 42 yards. Fort Valley wins rainy inaugural Florida Beach Bowl 23-13 over Johnson C. Smith

Fort Valley City State was able to take an early lead and then largely control the Johnson C. Smith offense in a 23-13 win in the inaugural Florida Beach Bowl.  The Fort Valley offense got right to work, marching 75 yards in 12 plays on the game’s opening drive that saw two 4th down conversions and ended on Brandon Marshall’s 2-yard plunge that put the Wildcats up 7-0.  A safety on a Johnson C.
