The Knicks will send the Minnesota Timberwolves a package centered around forward Julius Randle, guard Donte DiVincenzo and a future first-round pick. Towns, 28, has spent his entire nine-year career with the Timberwolves since being drafted No. 1 in the 2015 NBA Draft. According to The Athletic’s Ethan Strauss, at the D-League showcase, several NBA execs indicated Karl-Anthony Towns is “unhappy” with the current state of the 11-20, 13th in the Western Conference Minnesota Timberwolves. Strauss also reports the Timberwolves would be interested in acquiring Russell to pair with Towns via trade ( the two are close friends and there were rumblings of Russell going to Minnesota this past offseason). With the offseason drama surrounding Jimmy Butler, Karl-Anthony Towns, Tom Thibodeau and, to a lesser degree, Andrew Wiggins, the future of all the aforementioned parties and the Timberwolves’ roster was uncertain.
