According to The Athletic’s Ethan Strauss, at the D-League showcase, several NBA execs indicated Karl-Anthony Towns is “unhappy” with the current state of the 11-20, 13th in the Western Conference Minnesota Timberwolves. Strauss also reports the Timberwolves would be interested in acquiring Russell to pair with Towns via trade ( the two are close friends and there were rumblings of Russell going to Minnesota this past offseason). With the offseason drama surrounding Jimmy Butler, Karl-Anthony Towns, Tom Thibodeau and, to a lesser degree, Andrew Wiggins, the future of all the aforementioned parties and the Timberwolves’ roster was uncertain. Would Butler or even Towns and Wiggins be moved? Could Thibodeau be on his way out as head coach and president?
