Jonas Valanciunas expected to re-up with Memphis

According to a report from ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, center Jonas Valanciunas is expected to agree to a three year, $45 million deal. Valanciunas opted out of a player option worth $17.6 million dollar, which would allow him to become a unrestricted free agent and negotiate a longer term deal with the Grizzlies. After being acquired from the Raptors in the Marc Gasol deal, Valanciunas posted averages of 19.9 points and 10.7 rebounds, which is a noticeable increase from his career production of 11.8 points and 8.4 rebounds per game.

After moving on from head coach Larry Drew soon after the 2018-19 season ended, the Cleveland Cavaliers are in need of a new coach. According to The Athletic’s Joe Vardon, the Cavaliers are planning to set up an interview with J.B. Bickerstaff, the former head coach of the Memphis Grizzlies. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Memphis Grizzlies have sent Garrett Temple and JaMychal Green. Bradley was averaging 8.2 points per game this season. The Memphis Grizzlies have agreed to send veteran center Marc Gasol to the Toronto Raptors for Jonas Valinciunas, Delon Wright, CJ Miles and a 2024 second-round pick, as reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
