The Portland TrailBlazers defeated the New Jersey Nets 148-144 in double overtime Monday night but it came at great cost. Blazers center Jusuf Nurkic suffered a grusesome leg injury ( which we will not show images of or post links to, because we have couth) in the second overtime when he was attempting to tip in a missed shot when he landed awkwardly in traffic causing the leg to bend between the knee and ankle. Damian Lillard out against Hawks

According to The Oregonian and Oregon Live’s Joe Freeman, Portland Trailblazers star guard Damian Lillard will not play in the team’s game tonight against the Atlanta Hawks. Coach Terry Stotts says it is due to soreness in Lillard’s right knee and that his injury is not serious and the hope is that he will only miss once game.

What I saw in the Lakers/Blazers game

The Lebron James era in Lakerland was officially rolled out in games that count last night against Portland. Though the Lakers came up short, losing 128-119, I saw a lot of positives ,and a few negatives ,out of this iteration of Los Angeles. The caveat to this analysis is that this is just after one game so the right activities can be stopped and the wrong ones can be perpetuated. Portland Trailblazers recall Caleb Swanigan

Yesterday the Portland Trailblazers recalled rookie forward Caleb Swanigan from his G-League assignment with the Canton Charge. In his 14 games, 12 of which he started, Swanigan averaged 14.2 points, 11.9 rebounds, 2.7 assists , 1.0 steals in 30.3 minutes. In the 15 games he’s appeared with the Blazers, Swanigan has posted averages of 2.6 points, 2.4 rebounds, 0.6 assists in 8.9 minutes.
