Malaysian police seize nearly 12,000 pair of counterfeit shoes in raid

In a shopping mall in Kuala Lumpur, authorities seized nearly 12,000 pairs of counterfeit sneakers. At a press conference , the director of the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs and Ministry’s Enforcement Division, Datuk Iskandar Halim Sulaiman said the 11,883 pairs of knockoff footwear ranged from Nike to Tommy Hilfiger and were worth a combined 324,110 Malaysian Ringgit (RM) , which is the equivalent of $79,385 US. A Brooklyn, N.Y. man decided that the Christmas season was for taking and not giving. On December 23, an employee at a retailer on Flatbush Avenue told police he saw the suspect walk out of the store near Atlantic Avenue with an estimated $224 of footwear and socks. The would-be theif wrapped the anti-theft sensors with aluminum foil to thwart the alarms from going off as he exited the store. The man was arrested later that day and he was charged with petty larceny.

If you live in Summit, New Jersey and get sneakers sent your home, you may want to consider requiring a signature on delivery. According to the Summit Police Department, four packages were taken from a residence on Beauvoir Avenue on December 8. Authorities stated the victim was notified via e-mail ten packages had been delivered to their home but upon inspection, only six packages were present. The victim reported that four pair of Adidas Yeezy 500 sneakers, valued at $220 each. Police said the total amount stolen was $880.
