BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Southwestern Athletic Conference has tabbed Texas Southern’s Micah Gray and Alcorn State’s Destiny Brown for SWAC Women’s Basketball Weekly Honors for their outstanding performances during this past week of conference play.
Player of the Week – Micah Gray| Guard| Texas Southern University
Gray posted the best Texas Southern scoring performance in a decade with a 41-point outing at Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Saturday. She followed up that performance with 24 points during the team’s first win at Mississippi Valley State. For the week she averaged 32.5 points per game, shot 51.1 percent overall from the field and 50 percent from the three-point line. Gray also averaged 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals while going 8-for-9 from the free throw line.
Impact Player of the Week– Destiny Brown | Center| Alcorn State University
Brown averaged 23.5 points and 11 rebounds across two games for Alcorn State this past week. She shot 57.1 percent from the field against Alabama A&M and Alabama State, respectively. Brown poured in a game-high 28 points and eight rebounds against Alabama State. She secured six blocked shots to go along with 14 rebounds and 19 points for her third double-double outing of the season versus AAMU.
