Grizzlies are not looking to buy out Andre Iguodala, want him to report to camp

The roster spots on good teams that have been allegedly reserved for Andre Iguodala will sit unfilled, at least for the foreseeable future. It appears that the forward will spend at least some time in Grizzlies gear because according to a report by The Athletic and Stadium’s Shams Charania, Memphis wants the veteran wing to report to training camp, and the team , at this juncture, has no interest in a buyout.

It was thought that after the three-time champion was acquired via trade from the Warriors, that he would never play a minute for the franchise, and that the first round pick the rebuilding Grizzlies received in the deal was what they were really after.

However, to date, that has not happened and it appears the team will have to produce at least a few Iggy gamers.

It makes sense for the Grizzlies to hold on to Iguodala. Though he cannot be traded until December 15, the Iguodala market will still be hot and heavy in mid-December. When that contender calls, Memphis will have the opportunity to move him when the time is right and obtain something of value, which would be a rare intelligent front office decision for Memphis.
