The Alabama A&M University men’s basketball team will hold a two-day Multi-Tournament Event known as “The Bulldog Bash” on Friday and Saturday as Coastal Carolina, IU Indy and South Carolina State will be visiting the AAMU Event Center.
Tournament action begins at 4 p.m. on Friday with the first game as Coastal Carolina takes on IU Indy, followed by Alabama A&M playing host to South Carolina State in a battle of the “Bulldogs” at 7 p.m.The tournament concludes on Saturday with a pair of games, starting at 1 p.m. as South Carolina State meets IU Indy, followed by the hosts, Alabama A&M taking on Coastal Carolina at 4 p.m.
Alabama A&M
The Bulldogs (3-2) started the season strong with wins over Oakwood, Arkansas Baptist and Fisk. However, Alabama A&M is currently in the midst of a two-game losing streak after going on the road, with losses to Tennessee State and Georgia.
London Riley leads the scoring at 17.3 points, while Chad Moodie is averaging 13.4 points and 5.8 rebounds. AC Bryant is third on the team at 10.2 points. Alabama A&M, who averages more than 100 points per game in the first three games of the season, is shooting 46.1 percent and averaging 88.6 points.
Coastal Carolina
The Chanticleers (1-3) are coming into the weekend riding a three-game losing streak. Coastal Carolina opened the season with a 60-56 win over Western Michigan, but have since dropped games to East Carolina, N.C. State and Jacksonville State.
Rasheed Jones leads the way offensively at 14.8 points, while Denzel Hines is averaging 10.3 points per game. The Chanticleers are averaging 60.5 points and shooting 40.0 percent from the floor in the four games.
IU Indy
The Jaguars (2-3) enter on a two-game losing streak, opening the season with a win over IU Columbus, before falling to Xavier. After a win against Goshen College, IU Indy dropped back-to-back games against Eastern Michigan and No. 5 Iowa State.
Paul Zilinskas and Jarvis Walker pace the offense by averaging 18.6 and 13.4 points per game, respectively. The Jaguars are shooting 42.0 percent from the floor and averaging 80.0 in the first five games.
South Carolina State
The Bulldogs (2-3) are looking to get above .500 this weekend. After starting the season 2-1 with wins over Morris College and Voorhees, South Carolina State is looking to end a two-game losing streak as the Bulldogs fell to Jacksonville and Bethune-Cookman.
Wilson Dubinsky is leading the offense at 11.6 points and Drayton Jones is right behind at 11.0 points. South Carolina State is averaging 83.8 points and shooting 47.2 percent from the field.
