The Florida A&M men’s basketball team got a 22-point showing from the bench on the way to a 70-60 win over the Jackson State Tigers at The Gateway Center Arena at College Park Wednesday.
The Rattlers (15-15) had four players score in double figures, led by Antonio Baker, who had 14 points, seven rebounds and four steals. Tyler Shirley tacked on 13 points and Kaleb Washington helped out with 10 points, four assists and four steals.
Micah Octave pulled down four offensive rebounds to lead the Florida A&M offense which grabbed 17 boards and turned them into 14 second chance points.
Florida A&M’s defense held Jackson State to only 33.9 percent shooting from the field. The Rattlers also limited Delyle Williams to 2-of-12 shooting and 10 points in the game.
How It Happened
After falling behind 17-14, Florida A&M went on a 7-0 run with 8:23 left in the first half to take a 21-17 lead. The Rattlers then surrendered that lead and entered halftime down 34-33.
After intermission, Florida A&M kept the Tigers from increasing their lead before going on a 5-0 run to seize a 49-45 lead with 5:51 to go in the contest. The Rattlers kept expanding the margin and coasted the rest of the way for the 70-60 win. Florida A&M took care of business in the paint, recording 22 of its 37 points in the lane.
