Alcorn State’s Demetrion Duvall Named to FCS Punter of the Year Preseason Watch List

LORMAN, Miss. — Alcorn State punter Demetrion Duvall is receiving national recognition heading into the 2026 football season.

Duvall has been named to the 2026 FCS Punter of the Year Preseason Watch List, becoming one of just 14 punters from across the Football Championship Subdivision under consideration for the prestigious award.

The junior from Akron, Ohio, established himself as one of the Southwestern Athletic Conference’s top specialists during the 2025 season. Duvall averaged 42.7 yards on 49 punts, totaling 2,093 yards. He recorded a career-long 63-yard punt against Florida A&M and placed 14 punts inside the opponent’s 20-yard line.

He also recorded 13 punts of 50 yards or longer, tied for the second-most in the SWAC last season.

Duvall’s performance has already earned him First Team All-SWAC preseason honors at punter, further establishing him as one of the conference’s premier special teams weapons entering the new campaign.

Alcorn head coach Cedric Thomas emphasized Duvall’s ability to change field position and provide the Braves with a major weapon on special teams.

The FCS Punter of the Year Award, presented by the Augusta Sports Council, recognizes the top punter in the FCS. The award considers factors including net punting average, punts inside the 20 and punts not returned, with particular emphasis on net punting.

Alcorn State will open the 2026 season on August 29, hosting Miles at Jack Spinks–Marino Casem Stadium.

For Duvall, the preseason recognition provides another opportunity to showcase why he is considered one of the nation’s top FCS punters.
