HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Freshman Ethan Tookes intercepted a Edwin Kleinpeter pass and raced 70 yards to put the Hornets ahead 7-0 with 15 seconds left in the first quarter.
  • Dematrius Johnson connected with Kisean Johnsonthat covered 63-yards and a 14-0 Alabama State lead with 7:22 to go in the second quarter.
  • Jaih Andrews hauled in a Kleinpeter 17-yard touchdown pass to cut the Hornets’ lead to 14-7 at halftime.
  • Jayden John split the uprights from 28-yards out for the only score of the third quarter and a 17-7 lead.
  • Jonero Scott’s two-yard run capped a 12-play, 75-yard drive to cut Miles’ deficit 17-14 with 13:40 left in the fourth quarter.
  • Scott’s second touchdown of the night was a two-yard run that put Miles ahead for good 21-17.

OFFENSIVE NOTABLES

  • Johnson finished with seven catches for 103 yards and one touchdown.
  • Davis was 14-for—23 for 151 with one touchdown and two interceptions.
  • Damon Stewart was 5-for-8 for 69 yards and one interception taking over on the final two drives.
  • Tyree Saunders had four grabs for 44 yards.
  • The Hornets had 190 yards rushing and 210 passing for 400 yards.

DEFENSIVE NOTABLES

  • Colton Adams equaled his career-high with 17 tackles and one tackle for loss
  • Kelvin Stokes had eight tackles and one tackle for a loss.
  • Demarkus Cunningham posted seven stops.
  • Ethan Tookes had three tackles and a pick six.

SPECIAL TEAMS NOTABLES

  • Harrison Tuck II punted three times for a 38.3 yards per punt with one punt inside the 20.

  • Adams posted double digit tackles for the fourth straight game and the 10th time in career.
  • Tookes pick six was his first collegiate interception.
  • Miles won the coin toss and elected to receive.
